The Fisker Karma is a four seat plug-in hybrid hardtop convertible. It can cruise for 50 miles as an electric vehicle, without recharging on it’s 403 horsepower electric motors (It’s got two).
“The Karma furthers the Fisker belief that driving style and performance need not be compromised for environmental friendliness,” said Adam Simms, owner, Fisker Silicon Valley. “We are very excited to be the Silicon Valley source for this luxury plug-in hybrid and think this market — with its strong awareness of green transportation issues — will be a good fit for the Fisker brand. We are happy to be a part of this community and support San Jose’s efforts with its Green Vision,” said Simms.
An option available from the factory is a solar paneled roof that will aid in recharging the Karma’s Lithium Ion batteries as well as the cabin climate control system. This solar paneled roof can generate one half kilowatt hour a day and adds 4 to 5 miles additional range a week.
Cars like the Fisker Karma are more advanced that traditional combustion engine vehicles, and don’t rely on older technologies like oxygen sensors and exhaust systems, but instead use electric engines that are powered by solar and plug-in technologies.
